"Just The Ticket" Teen Birthday Card

Hello!  Cindy here from THE CREATIVE POINTE finishing up our week of "Teen" theme cards.  I felt a little at a disadvantage as I don't have any teenagers of my own, and most of the teens in my family are my nephews---which meant I couldn't fall back on my favorite "Girly" themes!  lol
But I think I found just the "ticket" for any teen with this bold and bright card.
You'll find the easy details over at my blog.  And just for fun I show the cut files I would use to make a "Girly" teen card.
Hope you'll stop back tomorrow as Shelley kicks off our new theme:
"JUST FOR MEN".

Teen past times-sunbathing

Ever since I started using copic markers, I have had such a great time working with them, and practicing my coloring techniques.  It's a lot of fun, and has allowed me to really enjoy my stamp collection so much more! Anyway, I'm still working at filling in my copic journal book with sample projects, and here is the latest that I finally finished up!
I enjoyed putting this one together...and again, all papers were from my scrap bin!  I had used these papers about 3 years ago for a "Through the Year" swap, where 12 people each had a month, and made 12 copies of their month, we swapped them out, and ended up with a full album, double page layout for every month of the year.  My month was June, so I used the blue and yellow paper to do a "beach" type theme.  I love the nice bright colors of that paper!! RECIPE FOR CARD:
PAPERS:  Detail Blending for stamp base, Scrap papers

INKS:  Copics, Memento Ink (Tuxedo Black), Tea Dye Distress Ink
STAMPS:  Whiff of Joy: 2010 July Stamp Set - Life's a Beach ADHESIVE:  3M Adhesive  MISC:  Round It All, Scrap ribbon, Daisy Bucket Stamp Phrase, metal flower shaped paper clip TECHNIQUES: Copic Coloring Techniques
COPIC RECIPE:
Skin: E50, E51, E53, R12
Lips: R05
Clothes: FYG2, W05, FV2
Hair: W2, W4, W6, W8
Glasses: Fv2, W10
Towel: Y00, Y02, Y08, W2 (shadow)
Hope you Enjoy!!

DCWV, Scraps, and a Just Because Card

Hello-

Patricia here, and this is the last day for the Just because card series.  Today, I made a simple card, utilizing my scraps again.   This time, the scraps come from the Performance Stack by DCWV.   I have been using this brand a lot lately, for several reasons:   you can get a lot of projects done from just one stack, especially if you use the 12 x12 stacks.  They are also trendy.  I still love the other brands like Bo Bunny, Basic Grey, and K and Co, but another reason why I like DCWV is durability.  The papers hold up to whatever project you are working on, from cards to mini books to simple scrapbook layouts.   The stacks are always on sale, especially at Joann's  .   Little known fact, DCWV makes the Recollections paper line for Michaels. This paper line is always one sale at Michaels.

Anyway, come on over to my blog, MDN Creates to here more about this card, and how to save a lot of money just by using your scraps, especially on cards.  You will be surprised. Please enter the monthly challenge list below.  You may win a wonderful prize. In the meantime, come back tomorrow for a new theme and to see Vicki's card.  I will talk to you later.

Welcome Back!

Carving your own stamps is fun!
Here is one of the cards I am featuring today that was made from stamps that I hand carved. Check out my blog to see the other cards

The trick is to carve small stamps that can be used together. For example, one leaf or one flower petal. You can then use the stamps in different combinations. When you carve your own stamps, there is virtually no waste, even the smallest scraps can be used.

Carved stamps are never perfect. That imperfection is what is so special about them. And guess what, all your stamps will work together! We each have our own unique style! So, find your style, and start carving!

BTW, always carve away from your hand, fingers or anything else that can be damaged or bleed :)

Don't forget to check back tomorrow for another card and inspiration from Christine Patton.

Until next time,
Laury

Bling, Bling!

Yeppers...lotsa glitter on this gal!

This is the Goldie Stamp from the Loralie Art Stamps that we carry in the store.

CARD RECIPE:
Stamped with Memento Ink on Detail Blending Paper. Used my Copics to color her in...using variations of pink and purple to make the stripes in her overalls. Added opaque white highlights, and some of my AtYou Spica Glitter pens on areas of the flower basked and overalls.

For the card base, I used Autumn Hay Petallics paper, which I stamped with the flower accent stamp that comes with Goldie. I stamped in a variety of reds and orange colors. I then heat set it, just to make sure it didn't smear. I then used my 1/2" Scor Tape, and put a strip of tape, then covered it with glitter. Then repeated this process, using various colors of glitter (light pink, dark pink, and light green.)

I then put small strips of the heart pattern paper from the Pastiche line by SEI. I had the little critter gems from my stash of Joann's embellishments, and the ribbon is one I picked up for a buck at hobby lobby. I used my bow template to make the bow!

Because I used glitter across the whole front of the page, I used the Scor tape to tack the gems, ribbon and stamped image down...as I needed it to be aggressive enough to stick to the glitter strips.

It turned out really cute...and has a LOT of bling!

butterfly card

Today's card I decided to leave with no sentiments on it, so you could see how it looks without, you can always add a sentiment, there is plenty of room, but I liked the look of it with nothing better.  I used glitter paper for the background and the butterfly and a embossing template with pearlized paper.  It has a lot of texture to it with the different papers and embossing.  I'm using my card for a Wedding invitation, on the inside I stamped silhouetted flowers and butterflies in the same blue as the butterfly.
Hope you like it.

I made these for Christmas Presents one year, but it can be used for a anytime kind of present. Monogram cards are always useful, and great gifts, I used stampin up's border and scallop punch and I made another mat for the scallop with my klick-n-kut, but you can also use a bigger scallop punch.

Heat Emboss an Injet Print

Heat Embossing an Inkjet print on Vellum! Now you can heat emboss all your digi stamps!

While researching techniques for today's card I ran across a reference to how to heat emboss an inkjet print HERE  Mel used a simple inkjet print on vellum paper. The vellum holds the ink on the paper's surface longer than plain paper and it is also tolerant of heat. Both characteristics are essential for heat embossing to succeed. For my experiments I did up the amount of ink for the prints.

Check out my blog for more information on how I made this card and the 3 others featured.

Summery Birthday Greetings

Birthday greetings tend to start all looking the same!  Hopefully this greeting will brighten up your day....and get you thinking of warm tropical weather!!  I was in a creative mode...and decided to try to make as many cards as I could in under a half hour, just by using the same set of stamps and colors of papers!

Everything used here is stamping up.  I don't remember the names of all the stamps, as I have remounted them all, and at the time I remounted, I didn't think ahead to label them with their stamp set name!

To do the birthday greetings in the first card, I stamped a scrap paper, tore around the greeting, stuck it to the paper, and used that as a mask.  Then stamped the flower for a background (stamping off the ink first on scrap paper, and then doing a second stamp on the paper...to give it a faded out look)  When done, I removed the mask and then stamped the greeting directly on the card.

Hope you enjoy the card samples!  You can join on in our new monthly challenges for June too...see the link below!
